...It takes a village!
Blair, Brooks and Aidan McConnell gave us the wings to fly with this project and have put up with non-stop talk about Huaripampa ever since. They offer us advice, assistance with all the behind the scenes things, and help with fund raising. Blair's belief and support of us and our ability to complete this project gave us the courage to follow the inspiration. What a gift; we are so lucky. We could not do this project without our boys.
David Sovero's commitment is instrumental to this project's success. He has given us great help as a contact with the town, as well as backed us with his shared passion for this project. He has jumped on board by raising funds and awareness about Peru by playing his Andes music, (solo and with his band, AmeriKantu,) at numerous events and by donating his art. llama/Jack, thank you for keeping us alive on our first trip to Peru! We really could not have done it without you.

Once in Peru, we learned that Cosme and Prisca Sovero generously donated their land for us to build the future library on. What a beautiful gift from two beautiful people! We have never met such spunky, lively grandparents.
(Nuestro amigo, Abuelo, on the library site.)
Sharon and Sofie Vettoretto and Jade McDermid, another mother-daughters team, have joined forces to creatively help raise funds in Canada in all sorts of ways! Sharon just keeps coming up with more ideas and energy to help the project move forward and is the power behind the Peru Project's Canadian branch. Thank you so much for all of your support. You're amazing!
Ceci Sovero is heading up the project in Peru. Her enthusiasm and creativity are infectious and her idea to host a hot chocolate day to introduce the library to the Huaripampinos was fantastic.
From the moment we met the Soveros, we felt like we were part of their family. Our gracious and generous hosts kept are hearts and stomachs full the entire trip. Carmine and Gladdis took wonderful care of us while Omar helped Renata's Spanish. Juan, Willy, and the rest of the Sovero family continues with their unending support for and help with the project from Lima, Peru. What an amazing family. Go Team Peru!
Mi casa es su casa y su casa es mi casa :)
The innocent comment, "I like your shoes!" is how Renata's relationship with Heather Austring began in Athens, Greece. A passionate conversation about life followed and before she knew it, Renata's was sharing her vision of the library with Heather, before the project was even solid. Heather's enthusiasm to help with the project and offer to help raise funds made Renata believe this project could happen.

Daisy Manning, owner of Ye Ole Waffle Shop in downtown Chapel Hill, took this project under her wings and into her heart. What a woman! She hosted The Peru Project out front of her shop to collect donations, placed a donation jar in her restaurant, and has made many monetary donations of her own. Thank you, Daisy, for believing in us and for sending your good energy our way.
Kate Kessler helped us by writing up an impressive business plan, the likes of which would have taken Renata and Kyla a year to put together. (What can we say? We're artist types.) We don't think she knew what she was getting in to.
The Stevens Family, including Jan (cheerleader extraordinaire,) Angelina, Jeff, Josh and Kara, encouraged us to follow the dream. From then, they have donated services to keep our energy and health in balance throughout the process.
Cydney Morel-Corton has been an avid supporter of the Peru Project through multiple donations of massage candles, jewelery and fabulous ideas.
Duncan and Lucia Shaw generously donated their fabulous services by translating Gracie, the Blue Lacy into Spanish. Thank you, Lucia, for believing in the project when it was just a stream of consciousness during Pilates classes!

Lucia Shaw supported the project in 2010 by donating 10% of the profits from her Pilates classes.
Thank you for this generous gift.
Sharon Rice was Renata's fourth grade teacher and happens to have built libraries in Africa. Another moment of serendipity, we met with her while in Canada this summer (while the project was still drop-able) and she gave us packets of information and told us not to give up.
